The Roueïre Arts and Heritage Center
After months of work, le Arts and Heritage Center has had a makeover and reopened its doors to the general public. It now houses devices designed to fully promote the activities of the educational and heritage service while developing a programming ambitious around plastic arts and contemporary art.
Indeed, Roueïre now supports a multidisciplinary scientific and cultural project combining heritage, temporary creation, and artistic education. It hosts exhibitions open to all, allowing it to strengthen its reception of groups and individuals and working towards education in the arts and heritage.
It is a wonderful place for exchange and experimentation that unites historical heritage and contemporary art.
Through exhibitions, visits and educational activities, Roueïre offers the public the opportunity to discover the history of art, current artistic creation, the plastic arts and the architectural, natural and historical riches of the region.
Come and discover these new spaces thanks to a particularly rich program throughout the summer: courses and workshops for families, guided tours of the site, exhibitions (at night, in bilingual, in sign language, etc.).
Everything has been designed to make the place accessible to as many people as possible, check out the program!

Inaugural Exhibition HELLO! By Valérie Du Chéné From June 28, 2025 to May 9, 2026
Hello!, a retrospective of the work of artist Valérie du Chéné, brings together nearly a hundred of the artist's works as well as a unique collection of works produced in-situ.
Born in 1974, Valérie du Chéné lives in Coustouge (Aude) and teaches at the Toulouse Institute of Arts.
The works presented will cover multiple settings and will indicate Valérie du Chéné's constant attachment to observation and fiction.
Paintings and murals, films, drawings, and cartoons, richly enriched by architecture, language, and play, will be organized into a precise circulation necessary for understanding these ensembles. The interpretation of the project will be amplified by artists from the 13th to the 21st century, drawn from several national collections, who will enter into conversation with the work of Valérie du Chéné, thus offering a testimony to these different artistic influences. The exhibition will unfold throughout the region through a rich program of workshops and artistic interventions.
Camin'Arts: When Nature and Culture Become One!
From Capestang, get on your biking or bring your walking shoes and enjoy a unique experience on the old railway line of Capestang, to the old station of CruzyThe train has not been running for a long time but has given way to the soft mobility : nothing is lost, everything is transformed, in a context increasingly inclined to sustainable development, ! So you will walk the Camin'Art Green Routes, with an evocative name (referring to the word Caminar: to walk and Camin: path) – a little nod to the local dialect), across vast vineyards, scrubland, pine woods, olive groves and small streams. In this magnificent setting natural, add to this works of contemporary art scattered here and there along the route, inviting many contemplative breaks.
Camin'Arts is an open-air art gallery! Over a little over 11 km, the walker strolls, observes, giving free rein to the imagination and daydreams. Camin'Arts invites you to admire the landscapes from another angle, through the prism of Art, with the path that winds among the works as a common thread... This route also makes Contemporary Art accessible to as many people as possible, in a universal and timeless way, with the works remaining in place permanently. In addition temporary exhibitions, each year a new artist is invited to create an in-situ work, adapting to his environment to become one with the landscape that surrounds him.

The Castle Loop: the journey continues on such a good path!
Next stop: the Castles Loop. After Art, we marvel at the Cultural heritage (aren't the two often closely linked?), with the landscape always as a common thread, an ocean of vineyards as far as the eye can see. This journey takes on its full meaning when you take the return route via the châteaux loop. The 13 km route winds along small departmental roads through the vast vineyards of the PGI Pays d'Oc and part of the AOP Saint-Chinian, and offers the walker a view of beautiful examples of “pinardier” castles from the end of the 19th century. The territory has always been marked by agricultural activity, and from this golden age were born magnificent examples of castles with remarkable architecture. They are also called the “Folies Languedociennes”: Salies, the Carrasses, Roueïre… (Seriège a little further on). Heritage visit or gourmet break in perspective! Take the time to stop in one of them for a wine tasting.
The first of these on your route: the Saliès CastleIt features a magnificent, symmetrical Renaissance façade. Who better than Xavier Gombert to tell you the story of the family estate? (photo 1).
Next comes the domain of Roueïre (photo 2), this former cellar with its English neo-Gothic architecture has been home to the Art and Heritage Center of the Communauté de Communes Sud-Hérault since 2016. Following on from Camin'Arts, the Roueïre estate is opening its doors to you to admire one of its contemporary exhibitions. (See program at the top of the page).
Continue your wandering to the Castle The Carrasses (photo 3), a 19th-century wine estate, restored and converted into a luxury resort and restaurant. It is similar to the stylized Gothic style, with medieval-inspired decor.
After these exceptional stops, you can then return to your starting point, Capestang*.
* The tour can be done in both directions, and by choosing your starting point.
