2 greenways, 1 oenovélo, 2 cycle loops, 1 site Moutain Bike of 23 circuits, the Canal des deux mers by bike, the Mediterranean by bike… Cycle tourism is booming in our destination. A boon for professionals in the sector: in 2023, the average expenditure of a cycle tourist in Hérault was €75 per day and per person compared to €55 for other types of tourists. Present throughout the year, they are not confined to the summer season and therefore represent an economic challenge for tourist structures.
The Accueil Vélo label is awarded to tourism professionals who wish to stand out and offer services and equipment that meet the needs of cycle tourists.
This is the guarantee for the cyclist of going to a suitable structure. Bicycle shelters or arches, repair kits, documentation adapted to cyclists... the criteria are designed to respond concretely to the needs of this type of clientele.
To be eligible, the establishment must be located less than 5 km from a cycling route and fall into one of the following categories:
– Tourist accommodation: hotels, villages holiday, guest rooms, tourist residences, rentals of furnished accommodation and gîtes, campsites, etc.
– Professional bicycle rental and repairers
– Visiting sites and Leisure activities : monuments, museums, exhibition halls, castles, remarkable sites, theme parks, performance halls, sports and recreational facilities…
– Restaurateurs

SHOPPING TIPS
To adapt to this emerging demand, ADEME has opened a “develop cycle tourism” program.
Active until 31/12/2024, this system offers aid to structures wishing to set up specific arrangements for cycle tourism.
