On the occasion of its reopening, Roueïre Arts and Heritage Center presents a monographic exhibition of the work of the artist Valérie du Chéné.
The exhibition Bonjour!, curated by Valérie Mazouin, director of the Chapelle Saint-Jacques Contemporary Art Center, Saint-Gaudens (31), brings together nearly a hundred works by the artist as well as a new collection of works produced in-situ.
Born in 1974, Valérie du Chéné lives in Coustouge (Aude) and teaches at the Institut supérieur des arts de Toulouse. Trained at the École Nationale Supérieure des Beaux-Arts in Paris, she has since developed a practice around painting, installation, volume and drawing, addressing subjects such as: color, the relationship to the other or even the
spatiality.
The works presented will cover multiple settings and will demonstrate Valérie du Chéné's constant attachment to observation and fiction. Paintings and murals,
films, drawings and cartoons, abundantly nourished by architecture, language and play, will be organized in a precise circulation necessary for the understanding of these ensembles. The reading of the project will be amplified by artists from the 18th to the 21st century, from several national collections and who will enter into conversation with the work of Valérie du Chéné, thus offering a testimony of these different artistic influences. The exhibition will be deployed throughout the territory through a rich program of workshops and artistic interventions.
