Today of cereal type, the mill dates from 1854 and was used at the beginning to grind the gypsum to make plaster and to build the houses of Saint-Chinian, which was in full period of expansion.
Abandoned in 1900 and left in ruins for many years, the town hall renovated it and turned it into a wheat mill.
The new mill was inaugurated on June 22, 2001.
It is located on a promontory and dominates the village, with a magnificent panorama over the vineyards and the Vernazobre valley, and Mont Caroux as a backdrop. It is also the starting point for the “scent of the garrigue” walk to discover the capitelles.
In season, the association Les Richesses du Saint-Chinianais offers guided tours to discover this magnificent site.
