“Fascinating weekend” program
from the Canal du Midi to Saint-Chinian

In Capestang and Saint-Chinian, two “wine walks” to travel the country roads on foot and on motorbikes. What better way to soak up the beauty of the landscapes and the reputation of the destination's wines?

A brief overview of what awaits you from the Canal du Midi to Saint-Chinian

SATURDAY OCTOBER 21 – From 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. – Meet at the Tourist Office.
The Tourist Office, in partnership with the Maison des Vins, association of the AOP Saint-Chinian appellation, organizes this walk to help you discover our terroir and our heritage. Accompanied by members of local associations (heritage ambassadors as we like to call them), you will discover sites exceptionally open for the occasion such as the ND-de-Nazareth chapel, but also this wonderful little built heritage which punctuates the route (capitelles, mills, mazets, etc.) and which makes our region typical. The walk follows a 9 km route (track of the ND-de-Nazareth oenorando hike – approximately 3 hours of walking), and will end in style with a friendly wine tasting, served by estates from the appellation present for the occasion.
Duration: 3h00 – 9km
Height difference +358 m
Free – upon reservation (until October 13) at the tourist office.

The Vignobles & Découvertes label

The national Vignobles & Découvertes label, launched in 2009, promotes wine tourism in French wine-growing regions. 74 wine destinations have been labeled, recognizing their tourist appeal and their commitment to the quality of welcome in the vineyard. This year the 10th edition of the Fascinating Vignobles & Découvertes Weekends will take place from Thursday October 19 to Sunday October 22, 2023 in the labeled destinations.

The Fascinating Vignobles & Découvertes Weekend is also...

Take advantage of the weather and the fall colors to make two Oenorando®! That of Notre-Dame de Nazareth in Saint-Chinian, to discover or rediscover the Moulin de Saint-Chinian, the path of the capitelles, and to climb to the chapel of Notre-Dame de Nazareth with its viewpoint over the Saint vineyards -Chinese. The Oenorando® “Le Pech du Thou” travels through the heart of the IGP Côteaux d’Enserune vineyard to Pech du Thou. From this natural promontory, the emblematic landscapes follow one another: the Canal du Midi, the Capestang pond up to the Clape massif and, on clear days, the Pyrenees range. On the Haut-Languedoc side, the silhouette of the Caroux massif watches over.
